The mission of Chickasaw School of Mathematics and Science is to produce curious, confident students who explore, experiment and solve problems which will ensure success in the 21st century.

Chickasaw School was founded in 1917 by the Tennessee Coal, Iron and Railroad Company to educate the children of the employees. The school building was placed on the Historic Register in 2004. Chickasaw served as a neighborhood school until 1991 when it became Chickasaw Magnet School of Mathematics and Science as a part of the Birdie Mae Davis court settlement. Chickasaw Magnet School is a Title 1 school which serves 58% of qualifying students. Chickasaw also boasts the fact that it is an AMSTI and ARI school which has successfully met AYP requirements.
